HANDMADE IN LOS ANGELES

The ‘Maneesha’ hoodie is named after Zay’s mother, Maneesha Diane Jones.

Her full-blooded ethnic roots derive from the Haliwa-Saponi Native American tribe of North Carolina.

Zay wanted to honor his mother’s beautiful skin complexion with a special “brown” tribute design.

“To the giver of life, I love you mama.”

“My goal was to express raw emotion in genuine fashion. This second collection does just that.

These clothes are small windows that u can look into to see what makes up my being.

Careful color choices woven together with my own convictions, personal ideas, and family roots - that to me is something I want to wear. Even if it’s only me.

I realized that ‘heart’ cannot be spelled without ‘art’.

Whatever that means to u, is for u, but as for me it’s letting what drives me inside act as a paintbrush and letting the world be my canvas.

We all have something to give. We all have something to create, but whatever u choose, be
Passionknit. “

On V-XXX-MMXX a powerful interaction between Zay and a kindhearted stranger led him to share their conversation to inspire others.

An elderly white woman approached the NFL star at a local furniture store— in the midst of the social injustice riots occurring across the nation— and spoke the words “you matter to me.” That emotional moment caught nationwide attention after Zay shared their experience on Twitter. Zay’s overall message of posting the encounter was to show “beautiful hearts still exist” and to encourage people to “be the example [of hope]”, “be the light” and to “love others.”

In a time where people seem to be divided, the ‘u matter to me’ hoodie commemorates that good people are still in this world like this unknown woman.
